Urban Decay Exclusive Bloggers Event

June 04, 2015

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get invited to the Urban Decay Bloggers event in the Bullring Selfridges to have a looksies at the new collection for Summer and generally lust over all the pretty things.

We were greeted by Kirsty who was lovely, it's so nice going to an event hosted by someone so clearly passionate about the brand and make-up in general and I have a feeling she's going to become my go-to girl for Urban Decay or general make-up questions.

Urban Decay is a brand that I used and heard of due to my Naked palette obsession but I didn't know a lot about their full range of products so I jumped at the chance to go. I ended up learning so much about the brand, especially as I didn't know much beyond the palettes.

For Summer this bunch of lovely lipglosses was released (called the Revolution High Colour Lipgloss). Admittedly I'm normally not the biggest lipgloss fan in the world because of the whole hair stuck to lips issue and I prefer the finish of lipsticks but I fell in love when I swatched these. They're non sticky and so pigmented they really give a pop of colour and a super shiny finish.

The middle orange shade was absolutely to die for and I plan on returning to purchase as soon as I'm slightly less poor.

On the subject of lips and something of interest for Midlands makeup junkies, UD have released 'The Vault' which sounds bad-ass and is basically a box of heaven. You get the lipstick collection alongside all the corresponding lipliners and it's sold for £180 (which yes is a lot, but 1. IT'S SO PRETTY and 2. It's worth £300). It's only available in Birmingham Selfridges at the Urban Decay counter and is really very limited in availability.

We also saw these Afterglow powder blushes which while I didn't get to swatch I may have to make a return trip to check them out, as the display looked amazing. I really like how UD have strayed past the typical pink blush to give a lovely range of colours.

Oh the eyeshadows, I fell in love with the eyeshadows. If money was unlimited I would have got every single one but instead I limited myself to a palette of 4 as a post-exam treat in a pretty Urban Decay (in purple, of course) box.

To make up my palette I set my heart on getting shades which I had nothing like and probably wouldn't find decent dupes of and went with a turquoise theme.
Top left is Solstice which is one of the new Moondusts which is an intensely sparkly and metallic shadow in a dark gold with green shimmer running through.
Top right is Zodiac which I knew I needed as soon as I saw it, it's also a Moondust and is a beautiful deep forest green.
Bottom left we have Loaded which is a deep smoky turquoise that swatched like velvet.
Finally bottom right there's Haight which is basically a brighter version of Loaded.
Watch this space for a review.

We also had a chat about foundations at the event and got introduced to the Naked Foundation, which is designed to give full coverage while still feeling light and weightless on the skin, something that really sparked my interest as in Summer I always want to use a full coverage foundation but don't want to end up looking like a caked up shiny mess. While I'd heard and read the odd review of the foundation I was really interested to see if it actually lived up to it's hype and I ended up purchasing the foundation (no judging) in shade 0.5 kindly matched by Kirsty which is a lovely pale foundation that actually matches my skin tone perfectly and I plan on reviewing it after it's had a full road-test.

So while I've fallen in love with Urban Decay products, my bank balance definitely hasn't and I'll be popping up reviews of the palette and the foundation once I've had a chance to fully try them out.

  2. I heard about this range while doing my fall makeup lesson. I love this a lot, they are so well pigmented and color pays off is so good. I did my course from Lina. She helped me a lot to improve my skills. I am so glad to choose her as my makeup trainer, she is best in my town.
