#northernbloggermeetup

September 05, 2014

This is going to be a very, very long post with probably far too many pictures. Better get yourself a cuppa or something!

So the 30th August rolled around and up came the #northernbloggermeetup which was organised by myself, Kathryn from The Kats Paws, Tori from Dolly Birds and Bows and Kirstie from Short Lashes. (I'm going to do a big bundle of links at the end of this post don't worry!).

We had 50 bloggers coming from all over northern England to Eten cafe in the middle of Sheffield along with some fab brands and a massive pile of goodie bags with Kathryn bagged up and hauled down to Sheffield with her (because she's basically superwoman).

I met some lovely bloggers at the station and then we headed up to Eten, picking up Jemma from A Drugstore Addiction on the way.

First and foremost I really have to thank Eten for letting us have our event there. They were extremely helpful when it came to fitting everyone in, set up, and providing food and drinks. Despite some technical difficulties they kept on being really helpful when I would have pulled the cables out and thrown them out the window and even lended us their speakers to use. Plus the food was amazing! If you're ever around Sheffield city centre I honestly can't recommend this little cafe enough! I know that if we hold an annual #northernbloggermeetup this will be the first place we try and if I'm ever in Sheffield I have to go back here!

So after a tiny bit of mingling we set up a little freebie table with some goodies from Tiny Tea, jewellery bits and bobs and a competition with Our Tiny Bees through twitter and got to meet up-ing! One person I was really excited about meeting was Leanne Marshall who was amazing enough to bring her nail line with her (which looks so lovely).
Some lovely ladies from Chiara Fashion were also there to speak to the attending bloggers.

It was also absolutely lovely to meet Tori and Jemma in person after what seems like a lifetime of twitter conversations!

Then Lush arrived and we hushed down for some bath bomb demos and a chat with some brand reps from Lush who were funny and friendly and actually really informative! I've always been a bit sceptical of how ethical such a big brand can be, so it was interesting to know all the behind the scenes work that goes towards charities and keeping their products ethical. Lush were kind enough to give us some goodie bags and I recieved a Lush Sex Bomb and the Veganese Shampoo and Conditioner which I'm loving trying out!

A bit more mingle time, or chatty time as me and Tori called it, and it was time to give out the table full of goodies from our raffle (the proceeds have been donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care and given to Lush to put towards their charitable work) So prepare yourselves for a big bunch of photos of our wonderful and beautiful winners!

After some technical hitches Benefit got all set up and we were so happy that they attended after our #benedare we gave them a while ago! Jamie and Kitty attended and gave us a talk on the history of Benefit (the coolest history lesson I've ever had) and a demo of their products on the lovely Kathryn by Kitty and even gave us an exclusive peek into what Benefit are doing for Christmas.

They were generous enough to give us a FULL SIZE They're Real Mascara and Push Up Gel Liner, with an in depth demo on how to use the liner (very handy as I had zilch clue on what I was doing).
They also gave us 10% anything at the counter (Boots was handily across the road) and an opportunity for a free makeover which I decided to not take advantage off so I could save my bank account more pain.

A bit more chatty time and it was sadly time for cuddles and good byes while we piled goodie bags onto people which as you can see were jam packed!

I was actually a bit sad leaving the meet up. Especially my partners in crime Jemma and Tori but I had such a lovely day meeting people! A big thank you to everyone who came!

Now time to prepare for #midlandsmeetup in February...

  1. Still totally gutted I didn't get there. Wishing I had persevered now. Would have loved to hear the Benefit talk and presentation. Also would have loved to meet everyone as I'm sure quite a lot if bloggers I follow were there. The goody bags look amazing - you all must have put in such hard work contacting all those brands xxx
