What's in my make-up bag?

June 08, 2014

This is a bit of a follow up from my previous skincare post. Today you get a tour of my make-up bag, at least the one that has my everyday make-up in it anyway.
These are the main items that I tend to use everyday, I'm not really going to go into brushes because I'm too lazy to, but most of my brushers are EcoTools.

So these are the products I use for my base (some of them are pretty worn out and need replacing as you can see).
1.  This is Rimmel's Lasting Finish that I've banged on about a lot in previous posts so won't really go into much now, but it's one of my favourite foundations.I use Ivory (100)
2. The writing's all scratched off but the is Loreal's True Match Foundation in Nude Ivory (the palest shade possible). This is about a shade too pale for me so I use it for contouring lighter areas instead. It gives a really good coverage and I really recommend this foundation as it doesn't feel heavy on the face at all and it's never caked up or made my face shine too much.
3. Rimmel Recover Perfect Skin (Shade 001), I've already reviewed this here so again I won't go into detail. I tend to mainly use this on blemishes and uneven skin patches that need more than foundation as I use number 6 under my eyes.
4. This is shockingly scratched and I'm in desperate need of another, but this is Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder in Transparent. It does the job but I probably won't be buying again as I feel there's better value powder's out there for the same price and it doesn't really last as long as I need it to.
5. Awkwardly yet another Rimmel product. This is their Natural Bronzer in Sun Glow which I tend to use either to contour or just to add a bit of colour and I'm also running out of. Similarly to the powder, it gets the job done but I definitely think there's better bronzers out there for the same price. I also find that this really doesn't last very long and I can just end up with orange patches on my cheeks which is never a good look.
6. Dirty Works Bye Bye Dark Circles. This was a fairly recent purchase but I'm currently a little bit in love with it. It has 2 different shades which you can mix to your own colour. It's one of the few concealers that has the perfect consistency for dabbing under eyes so it doesn't pull skin without going really cakey and it's easy to build up coverage for however many hours sleep you missed last night.

Moving on to eyeshadows, for everyday looks I tend to go with a browny gold smoky look in summer as it looks natural enough for daytime but still emphasises my eyes enough. I both 1 or 2 or a combination of both (I live life on the edge, clearly).
1. Bourjois don't actually sell this under this name anymore- it's now just called their Smoky Eyes Trio (this one is Mordore Chic) and has different packaging, but it's the same product. It's a palette of 3 colours that go together for 1 smoky eye look. They do them in a range of colours and it's one of my favourite eyeshadows. It's shimmery but in a subtle way that doesn't spray glitter everywhere and it goes on so nicely and I barely ever have creases.
2. Seventeen Trio Eyeshadow (I have In the Nude)- this was brought as a cheap afterthought thing for holiday but I really like it. I mainly use the lightest shade as a wash over the eyelid and the darkest brown as it's darker than the brown in the Bourjois trio. It isn't very pigmented though and can fall off a lot but it's still fairly handy. The dark brown is also pretty handy for filling in my brows.

1. Collection 2000 fast stroke liquid eyeliner. I've been buying this ever since I discovered liquid eyeliner. The tiny pot seems to last absolutely ages and the brush makes it so easy to apply. It can sometimes take a few coats to make a bold solid line, but that's only an extra minute out of your day so it's not really an issue.
2. Oh dear, yet another Rimmel product. This is their Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Noir (aka Black) This is an okay eyeliner, it isn't that strong and can take a few going overs but I really like the handy smudger on the end (cut out of this photo because I'm really good at this blogging thing -_-)

1. Benefit They're Real Mascara- I used to own a full sized bottle but this is just a sample bottle I managed to snap up. It's mostly dried out and I only really keep it as I think the brush used in this mascara is amazing for giving volume to lashes and curling them so it's a handy thing to have around even to just wash and reuse the brush.
2. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black (there isn't much difference between this and the normal black version, I guess it just sounds better). I LOVE this mascara, it's a fiver and for the price is amazing. It's especially good for curling lashes and barely clumps at all. For the price it's one of my favourite mascaras.
3. Rimmel *sigh* Lash Accelerator Mascara- I've also done a mini review on this so I would go and check that out if you want to know more about it. But it's fairly good.

1. I got this as a present in a set with other bath stuff, but I use this as my daily lip balm as it's so cute and good. It's surprisingly good at softening the lips and smells really pretty. The little tin is also pretty handy to carry around as well.- Betty and Walter Balmy Lip Balm
2. Rimmel Moisture Renew in Notting Hill Nude. I've done a full review of this - here if you want to take a look but I really love the shade for day times, especially in summer.
3. Topshop Lipstick in Satin- This is one of my favourites from the range of Topshop lipsticks. It looks really red on this photo but comes out more of a light coral red and is one of my favourite everyday lipsticks. Although this can be a teeny bit drying on the lips.

So this is what my day to day face consists of. I'd love it if you had any feedback/comments or suggestions to leave below or if you'd help me out by following me using the bloglovin follow button!

  3. Your makeup bag is super cute. I can't believe there's someone with less Rimmel Stay Matte powder left than me haha. And we have the same taste for mascaras :)
