Review: Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel

June 15, 2014

My flatmate Lizzy (she gets annoyed that I don't say her name) found this first and brought Lavender Soap. When she put it on it smelt amazing so I decided to give it a try myself.
I got the Apricot Nectar, because it sounded like it would smell nice and I really loved the peachy/corally colour.
The first thing to note is that the nail enamel smells like normal nail polish when it's wet, it only begins to smell nice as it dries on your nails. But when it dries it does smell amazing, I loved the smell of the Apricot one so much I basically just walked round smelling my nails all day, it was a florally Apricot scent and was lovely and summery. So the scented part definitely works.

I loved the colour of this on my nails, it's such a summery colour and I think it really suited my skin tone.
The downsides were that it took 3 coats to get a decent opaque colour, although as it dries fairly fast this wasn't too bad. I really dislike the brush in this nail polish, it's too thin for me and it's quite hard to get an even colour with it and it made the application not all that great and it's probably the only big let down on this nail polish.
There's currently an offer for 2 for £10 (£6.49 for one) on these in Boots, so it's fairly averagely priced for a nail varnish which is good as I was expecting it to be a lot more expensive due to the scents but it's in the affordable range.

The picture below is to test how long the polish lasted, this was after 5 days of wear, there was a fair bit of tip wear and cracking at the bottom where my nails had grown, but it wasn't too bad and the lasting time also seems to be fairly good seeing as this time included 4 nights out and flat cleaning.
However the scent wears off after about 1/2 days, I can very faintly smell it if I sniff my nails hard enough (although I look really strange). So the scent seems to me to be kind of a novelty thing more than anything.

So I would probably recommend these, I still feel like it's a bit of a novelty nail varnish, as the smell doesn't last all that long but still a cute novelty and it's nice for a few days. Bearing in mind it isn't that expensive I think the nail varnish is fairly average in itself, I do love the colour range Revlon has used but I would love it a lot more if they used a better brush.
Has anyone else tried these? What did you think?

  4. These look so cute, such a great concept too! I really like the colour, shame about the actual formula and brush though. I like a huge brush to paint my nails for an easier swipe; a narrow brush for me makes it so hard to paint my nails, especially when you need lots of coats! x

  5. Yeah I love how the bottle is made to resemble a perfume bottle. I don't mind a thin brush if the formula still goes on evenly, I'm hoping they improve the formula, but you can still get an even colour with a few coats but it takes some patience! Its still a lovely nail varnish though :) x
