My favourite summer lipsticks

June 18, 2014

I'm a complete summer child (although I definitely can't function in temperatures over 20 degrees) so summer is by far my favourite season. I thought that for this post I would take you through my favourite lipsticks for summer.

1. Topshop Lipstick in Brighton Rock

Hardly a new lipstick but it's one of my favourites (as you can see from how worn the tube is) , It's a slightly bluey pink and is perfect for day and night. I'm generally a fan of Topshop's lipsticks, they can be pretty drying on the lips but I love how pigmented they are and the colour ranges are my favourite, especially the pinks and corals.

2. Tosphop Lipstick in Hazard/ Red Lippy Project

The photos on this post are of Hazard which is a deep red and one that I already own. Red is my favourite shade of lipstick as it can't really go all that wrong and clash with things.Plus it goes with my skin tone being the pale thing that I am. I adore the Hazard shade (it's a matte non shimmery deep red). But if you're after a red lipstick for this summer I would go and nab the Red Lippy Project lipstick from Topshop while it's there. It's a limited edition stunning postbox red and 30% of the profits go to the charity the Red Lippy Project to raise awareness for cervical cancer. I know that I'll be getting it when I have the money and I really suggest you do too (a new pretty lipstick AND doing a good deed for charity?!)

3. Calvin Klien Delicious Truth Sheer Lipstick in Retro

Although it sounds like it should be pricey, Fragrance Direct do Calvin Klien lipsticks for dirt cheap and I love the quality. This lipstick is so moisturising and light on the lips so it's perfect for holidays or hot days. Although it's sheer it still adds a nice tint to the lips. To be honest it could be called more of a really tinted balm. The shade I own is Retro and is a cute light pink, it's enough to make lips look really nice but it's still got a subtle colour to it.

4. Rimmel Moisture Renew in Notting Hill Nude

I've already posted a full review of this which you can find here. After a few weeks of wearing I've come to really love the shade, it's a pinky nude and perfect for summer day times. I still think the formula is a bit too creamy but if you prep your lips properly this shouldn't be a problem. It's definitely moisturising which is handy for days out in the drying sun.

5. Dainty Doll lipstick in It's My Party

Admittedly this is a kind of similar colour to Brighton Rock, although this shade is more of a vibrant and deeper pink so is a bit bolder than the Topshop one. It's such a pretty shade and it seems so summery to me. I recently got this from a blog sale from Tales of a Pale Face. Dainty Doll isn't sold in too many places so it can be hard to get your hands on (it's occasionally sold on Fragrance Direct though), but it's worth the effort. This lipstick has a thick and waxy feel so it creates an opaque vibrant colour in one layer. It lasted me all day and most of a night out, although it was a bit drying after that it's nothing lip balm can't fix.

    1. I love the dainty doll one it's such a lovely pink colour, it's pretty hard to get your hands on, you kind of have to dig around places selling discontinued make-up (fragrance direct sometimes have it). Let me know if you find it anywhere! :) xx
