Review: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick

May 22, 2014

I own quite a few Rimmel lipsticks, but they're all really old ones and the few new ones are from the Lasting Finish range, I hadn't tried the Moisture Renew range until now but I had pretty high hopes on it, and as mentioned in my last post, I couldn't resist the discount!

A lot of people might think that the tube is on the tacky side and I can see their point, but I do like the purple shininess and I'm not that much of a fuss pot when it comes to packaging anyway.

The colour (Notting Hill Nude) is a pretty pinky nude colour, which is perfect for a daytime casual lipstick as it's quite subtle. I personally tend to go for darker and brighter lipsticks so I wasn't entirely sure that this suited me all that well, but it's such a nice colour that I couldn't resist anyway. It might be a little on the light side for me sadly.

One of my main high hopes for this lipstick was the moisture part, I'm cursed with forever bone dry lips and hoped this would help them. While it did make my lips feel softer and the lipstick is really creamy and feels nice on the lips, I found that it would stick to already dry skin on the lips possibly due to being too thick and creamy which wasn't that great and was a massive downfall for me. If your lips don't have much dry/dead skin on then this wouldn't be an issue for you though.

Wah for sticking to dry lips :(
The colour looked pretty strong when on and the lipstick is thick and opaque, but in terms of lasting power it scores pretty low sadly, I think this is again due to over creaminess meaning it doesn't really dry onto your lips really well and will rub off on everything and anything, by the end of the day I'd lost count of how many times I'd re-applied.

Final Verdict? 6.5/10

At the price it was I'm not going to complain too much, I think a person who suits pale lipsticks more and doesn't have dry lips would love this lipstick but for me it definitely isn't my favourite :(

  1. Lovely shade! It is a shame you had to keep reapplying. I hate it when lipsticks don't stay put x

    1. Yeah I do love the shade! I suppose its a bit of a trade off with really moisturising lipsticks is that they tend to be slip more :( x

  2. I felt the same way with this product. I prefer the Kate Moss collection by Rimmel and they definitely have long lasting power :)

    1. Yeah I think it's just too creamy and just slips around, I'm still yet to try a Kate Moss one but I have one on it's way to me in the post that I can't wait to try! :) x
